Amped Up

You can leverage technology to amplify your performances. You gain the following benefits:

• When one of your spell inventions would fizzle out , you may immediately expend a spell slot of the same level or higher as the spell cast by the spell invention to prevent it from fizzling.
• When you cast a bard or artificer spell using a spell invention, you may add the results of the fizzle die to attack rolls made as part of the casting of the spell for 1 round. Alternatively, creatures and objects that make a saving throw caused by the spell must reduce their saving throw totals by the results of the fizzle die for 1 round.
• If you reach 10th level in bard, you gain the following benefit: when using a spell invention to cast a bard or artificer spell with a casting time of an action, you can immediately cast a bard or artificer cantrip with a casting time of one action as a bonus action. Once you have used this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, you can’t do so again until you finish a long rest .

Design Note on Amped Up

When artificers reach 10th level, the size of their fizzle die increases, improving the power of this feat. Bards have therefore been given an additional bonus at the same level to compensate.
