Read Mind
You scan for thinking creatures in range and probe a creature’s mind to read its thoughts by focusing on it. The creature makes a Wisdom saving throw. On a successful save, you fail to read the creature’s thoughts, and the creature gains an expertise die on saves against this power for the next 24 hours; unlike normal, this expertise die has a maximum of 1d12.
On a failed save, you learn the creature’s surface thoughts—what is most on its mind in that moment. As a reaction to learning its thoughts, you can make a Deception check to masquerade as its internal voice to ask it direct questions which it answers truthfully on a success. On a failure, the creature shakes your presence off as it would an intrusive thought and the power ends.
The power penetrates most barriers but is blocked by 2 feet of stone, 2 inches of common metal, or a thin sheet of lead.
Surge. You can spend +1 psionic points to bypass stone; +2 psionic points to bypass metals; +2 psionic points to increase the range to 1 mile.
