Foundation (Destiny)

Foundation (Destiny)

Characters with the Foundation destiny wish to create something new, something big, something important; and to do it from scratch. This can mean founding a city, starting a large organization, or even their very own culture. What’s important is that it didn’t exist before they arrived, and it will continue to do so long after they are gone. The world will be changed, at least in some way, and it will have been thanks to them

Preservation (Destiny)

Preservation (Destiny)

The last remaining guardian of a sacred location, the keeper of an important relic, the only practitioner of an endangered tradition. Those with the Preservation destiny are the last bastion against something significant disappearing from the world. The reason and nature of what they are protecting can take many shapes, but one thing is certain: without them, it will be lost forever.

Keeper of the Land

Keeper of the Land

Keepers of the land inhabit ancient territories where crowded settlements and large-scale agriculture have not yet taken a foothold. These can be very different locations, like large swathes of grassland, cave systems deep underground, or thick and unexplored jungles, but they all share the same characteristic: a sense of an ancient, almost forgotten history that permeates through every corner.

Oxfolk

Oxfolk

Oxfolk are a tall, bovine-esque people with large, curving horns. Many have longer hair on their heads and about their shoulders and most have furry coats, the length and texture of which varies with the seasons, the climate they hail from, and their lineage. This fur is largely similar to that seen on oxen and domesticated cattle, with bands, splotches, and solid colors being equally common, though some might look more akin to bison, water buffalo, or yaks

Return to Glory (Destiny)

Return to Glory (Destiny)

Some adventurers hang up their swords and put away their spellbooks, only to find that they have to take them up again. This may be a story of fulfilling one’s true potential, achieving a glory always longed for, or even one of redemption and penance for a past life of violence or treachery.

Retiree

Retiree

You have done what few have managed: you have aged gracefully out of adventuring. Maybe exhaustion overtook you, maybe you had accomplished all you had dreamed. Whatever happened, you have done exceedingly little since then. Maybe you drank yourself into darkness each night, or maybe you’ve been content to just watch the flowers glow on a small plot of land you’ve bought yourself.

What pulled you back into a life of adventure? Do you want to go back to retirement? What drives you, and what beckons you to stop?

Former Adventurer

Former Adventurer

You left adventuring for your own reasons and set up to what you long considered to be an honest profession. Whether it was tending bar at a tavern, mending broken tools at a blacksmith, or some other work, it has kept you in relatively good shape, even though you may be constantly looking over your shoulder.

What caused you to quit a life of adventure? What drags you back? What are you leaving behind?

Out of Retirement

Out of Retirement

Plenty of stories have heroes and former mercenaries give up a life of adventure for quiet, honest work. But it’s never that simple: just because they’ve walked away from the happenings of the world, doesn’t mean that the world is done with them! There are stories also about mages that hung up their robes to don a gardener’s apron or famous berserkers that now content themselves with yelling advice from the sidelines while enjoying a nice cuppa instead of sparring personally. That doesn’t mean their tale has ended, however, as the call to adventure can come from unexpected places.
